Hearing Your Own Voice

I spoke these words to my son last Sunday. He's in the habit of running his plans and ideas past me and his dad... work, church, Jalen, women, military, school... almost over and over again as often as he thinks.
And often, he's thinking too hard, 2 much. Out loud and in writing. But it must be theraputic. As he told of his work and school plans, turning down an 8-5 may be infavor of his midnight shift, the pay, the hours, the flexibility of going to school in Aug 09 -- knowing his supervisors and the routine.....
It's good, nuthin for us to say... encouraged him that God is guiding his footsteps.
It's really good to see him relaxing, calming down for the first times since returning from Iraq. I see God workin!

Jayboy in Church!
Lord, let there be virtue and a reward as I involve Jalen in Children's Choir. First steps in training a child in the way he should go: planting the word in song that will be brought back to his remembrance. That Jalen will accept the gospel of Jesus Christ, accept Christ as his Lord and personal Savior....

Broke, busted up proved right. Sunday evening, Lawrence went out to back yard, messed around and smelled gas fumes. Ok- ONG called 911 to check it out.

Good facts about the King of POP

Thriller is the sixth studio album by American recording artist Michael Jackson. The album was released on November 30, 1982 by Epic Records
Thriller cemented Jackson's status as one of the predominant pop stars of the late 20th century, and enabled him to break down racial barriers via his appearances on MTV and meetings with President Ronald Reagan at the White House. The album was one of the first to use music videos as successful promotional tools—the videos for "Thriller", "Billie Jean" and "Beat It" all received regular rotation on MTV
At its peak, the album was selling a million copies a week worldwide. In just over a year, Thriller became—and currently remains—the best-selling album of all time. Sales are estimated to be in excess of 60 million copies sold worldwide. Seven of the album's nine songs were released as singles, and all reached the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album won a record-breaking eight Grammy Awards at the 1984 Grammys, including awards in three different genres—pop, R&B and rock.
Thriller was preserved by the Library of Congress to the National Recording Registry, as it was deemed "culturally significant."
Unlike many artists, Jackson did not write these songs on paper. Instead, he would dictate into a sound recorder; when recording he would sing from memory
The Girl Is Mine"; the funk pieces "Billie Jean" and "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'"; and the disco set "Baby Be Mine" and "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)"
Family Joke -- Thriller

Thriller was not funny to Tony.... he was maybe 3-4 yrs old... we had a famous brown/gold plain lookin love seat and sofa (forever) and he would peep around the back to see thriller on TV... then hide as MJ caught the girl in the house... and then the hands and people came up out of the cemeter graves!!! too, too funny....

Let The Wise Man . . Glory in this...

Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Neither let the mighty man glory in his might,
Let not the rich man glory in his riches;
But let him (her) that glorieth... glory in this . . . .
That he understandeth and knoweth me,
That I am the Lord which exercises
- Lovingkindness,
- judgment, and
- righteousness, in the earth;
For in these things I delight, saith the Lord."

Lesson: Face em, son
Last weekend I sat in my son's living room, as J-boy to the handles to a Turtle fighting game on playstation! Engrossed, he climbed, he fought, he won. And the moment his figure dropped or was beat down - he looked and said.. Daddy help / fix it / how do I climb the wall?
Jalen was given finger placement and was content with daddy. Then, my son mentioned later that on another visit, Jalen was yet getting whupped up on... and he said "Jay - u have to face that dude. Face him down...u have your back turned. That's why he's whipping u!" Tony said, Jalen's eyes looked like a question mark????: face means - my eyes, nose, ears, teeth, mouth.... face the dude? And, Tony took another moment to explain the culturalism of the term "face em, face em down... u gotta turn to your attacker, here's the button - - face him and fight back"
Just a little later, as Jalen resumed play... the yell came "daddy, daddy, I did it, I faced him, I'm winning, come see!" Tony said, Good job, son!
There's a lesson in manhood... in a million years grandma would miss such a teaching opportunity.
A boy will mimic that male figure in his life... his shoulders will lean, he will pace his walk like dad. So, to take on an adversary: See, access, apprehend the situation. Then turn, face em, accepting the challenge in order the achieve the expected outcome u want!
Jalen will be 4 yrs old on 6-16-2009
